System Communication Unit SCU 810

System Communication Unit SCU 810

The SCU 810 module is an advanced communication unit designed to connect intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) from the Iskra NEO 3000 (or NEO 2000) Substation Control and Protection System with those from third-party manufacturers. These IEDs include numerical protection relays, bay computers, intelligent RTUs, energy meters, and other similar equipment used within substations.

Features:

The SCU 810 provides all essential communication and data management functions required within a substation, including time synchronization and substation automation capabilities. It can also act as a gateway between various levels of control systems — from substations to central utility dispatch centers — enabling the integration of data from multiple, geographically distributed substations into one unified supervision system for large-scale power networks.

As a multi-protocol device, the SCU 810 allows simultaneous communication with different IEDs connected through separate ports using multiple supported protocols. Its communication capacity can be expanded using the ECU 032 extension unit, which adds up to 64 ports. For IEC 61850-based communication, it supports optical networks in both star and ring configurations. Additionally, when functioning as a master automation controller in a Distribution Automation System, the SCU 810 executes a range of automatic control and monitoring functions.
